Tom Jones, singer of such classics as Delilah, It's not Unusual and What's New Pussycat is from the Welsh valleys in Wales. Daza and Enid went to the Welsh valleys on a Tom Jones pilgrimage. We went to Treforest, near Pontypridd, and found this house, which we are almost convinced is the birthplace of Tom Jones. Tom Jones now lives in the USA.
Tom Jones bought the phone box from a Pontypridd street where he lived to put on his Bel Air estate. "It was our local phone box - we didn't have a phone in the house. So when they changed all the phone boxes I asked if I could buy that one. They said I'd have to pay to have it taken out of the ground and transported. The process cost me more than the actual thing itself..." (Tom Jones, The Word, 6 May 2008, p. 41).
